Long and far have you traveled. You stand on fractured, blighted land, far removed from the grace of any god. The place from which you came is now no more. You've nothing now, save for the tattered cloth melded to you skin and the rusting and rotting nails and board from which you derive your twisted pleasures.

In the distance is a disgusting thing. muscle and bone and fear laid bare as the pulsating dungeons stand tall. The stench of blood and an indescribable ooze are carried on the wind, and your heart flutters as it had never before. This is the day you will kill. It is the day you will reap the vengeance you so long for. It will be a few precocious moments until the very reason for your journey is attained.

You begin to drool.

Across bleeding sands, moaning forest, caves of steel and light, and more you have sojourned. Never stopping, never resting, always moving. You have bore the sins of fathers,  brothers, and sons, and have been baptized in ichors red. Now the end of your journey is nigh, and you tremble. You know better than anyone what you must do.

Long and far have you traveled, far from any semblance you might call home. You now step into Vita Mori.

Vita Mori is a short card game made for the One Game a Month 40# game jam. Take control of an enigmatic spell caster who has come to explore the titular dungeon and rout them of the abomination that lay within.

Cards come in three types with varying uses, and possess 3 main attributes. Speed, which effects when a cards effect's are preformed, Energy, which determines how much Energy a card takes to cast, and Health, which determines how   many times a card can be used before sending it to the graveyard. Use each cards strengths to your advantage while exploring the dreary locals in an effort to make it to the end.

P.S. to remove the card tip at the beginning of the game, pause the game with TAB and then close the pause menu. Happy Halloween and please enjoy.

P.P.S. The room with the eggsack and two borts may break and we have no idea why. it is late and we are tired, so just reset and you probably wont get it again. sorry.

the aesthetics are really nice. I like how the arm is holding the cards like a yugioh thing. The colors all go well together.

On my second turn it seemed like my cards didn't work. There should be more feedback when the cards are played. It looked like sometimes my cards were discarded rather than played? or that's what it felt like.

Still, you should be proud of this one. Really good job! Keep making games!

So what you might've felt in the second turn may just be how the game works. It works a lot more like Pokemon in terms of turns, where all of the actions(aside from those that occur on play) take place. Some cards also don't work immediately and take some a few rounds.
